EncoreEast has been awarded £6,509 from the Arts Council’s Let’s Create Jubilee Fund by Suffolk Community Foundation.
EncoreEast are delighted to be awarded £6,509 from the Arts Council’s Let’s Create Jubilee Fund by Suffolk Community Foundation which is ensuring that creativity plays an important role in local community celebrations for Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
DanceEast helped EncoreEast develop the project and has contributed towards the commissioning of Ipswich dancer and choreographer Hannah Rudd to create a new dance work.
The programme, Elizabeth! will celebrate local talent and the joy of dancing together across the ages. It will include opportunities for audiences to take part and watch a collage of authentic dance from the period of the first Queen Elizabeth. This will be taught by EncoreEast’s own Jackie Marshall-Ward Director and tutor for Colchester Historical Dance and performed to live music by Lizzie Gutteridge and her Colchester Consort. Hannah Rudd will create a present-day response with music by Quinta (Kath Mann) and costumes will be designed by Juan Gil.
There will be dance workshops and performances will take place at the Suffolk Show (31 May) and in Christchurch Park (3 June). We hope to get many local dance groups involved to share the joy of dancing together again.
Elizabeth! is a truly local project made by and for local people. EncoreEast want to sincerely thank DanceEast, the Suffolk Community Foundation and Arts Council England.
Made possible thanks to National Lottery players and administered by UK Community Foundations on behalf of the Arts Council, the Let’s Create Jubilee Fund will support a huge range of projects throughout England. 44 community foundations have been awarding grants across the country.
