After graduating from Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Chess trained & toured nationally with Jasmin Vardimon’s JV2. In 2014 Chess co-founded the comedic dance-theatre company: The Hiccup Project. As co-Artistic Director until 2020, she co-created & performed full-length works including May-We-Go Round? – winner of The Pebble Trust Brighton Fringe Award, The South East Dance Award & The Fringe Review Award for Outstanding Theatre. Chess is now making work independently, her debut work M-Othering previewed in July 24 to a sold-out audience. She is currently Programme Lead for Dance at Varndean College, teaches adults at Smikle Space and often works to commission for Smikle Youth Dance Company. She co-curates the professional dance training programme at South East Dance and is currently supported by OUTBOUND; an artist development programme run by 7 dance organisations including DanceEast. She has previously taught for EncoreEast and is back by popular demand!
About the Workshop:
Expect a playful, honest and creative workshop celebrating ourselves, connecting to and moving with others. Through improvisation, creative exercises and repertoire we will use movement to explore, examine and dig a little deeper into ourselves and delve into the creative process of Chess Dillon-Reams’ new work M-Othering.
Upcoming performances of M-Othering: Fri 30th & Sat 31st May @ The Old Market Theatre, Brighton
