We are thrilled to be collaborating with DanceEast to showcase a wide range of films and performances at HOST 2022

HOST celebrates dance and age. It brings together older dancers, artists, practitioners, and choreographers to dance and talk in a programme of workshops, presentations, discussions, and performances.

What a joy and privilege to work with the dancers of EncoreEast as part of Moving Appearances.

I love that moment when the audience starts to fill the auditorium. The outside world is brought in clinging to our clothing and in the buzz of conversation. Then the sudden hush where in the silence it is no longer ‘I’ but ‘we’ waiting in anticipation.

As participant ethnographic research and dancer with EncoreEast I have spent many hours wondering, why? Why do sixteen older adults spend so much emotional and physical energy learning, creating and performing dance.

The physical aspects of the space generated ideas for sections and indicated a pathway between them. The concept of ‘archive’ is rich with possibilities.
