Participating in a dance piece that delved into the complexities of climate change transformed the issue from abstract to deeply personal. Carrie’s articulate explanations of the concepts shed light on the urgent reality we face. The intergenerational community cast segment served as a poignant reminder for everyone involved. Under Carrie and Amy’s expert choreography, I felt both valued and pushed to excel as a dancer. Within just the first hour of rehearsal, we grasped the two main phrases and then seamlessly integrated with the larger ensemble. On the day of the performance, we rehearsed with the remarkable cast: one run-through and a couple of dress rehearsals later, and we had achieved so much. Carey’s unwavering kindness and positive attitude instilled in me the confidence to simply immerse myself in the experience and give my all during the performance. From this experience, it’s clear that each of us has a role to play in addressing climate change.
